LAID feat Friends in America + Young Aviators + Detour DJs
9pm-3am. Wednesday 25th April. Bar Bloc. FREE.
We don’t have any friends in America, or any friends at all for that matter, so it is very nice to have FRIENDS IN AMERICA, a band who are friends, but not in America. YET. If their rise and rise in Scotland is anything to go by, they’ll be crossing over stateside in nae time at all. We first played host to these guys-and-a-girl last year at MILK, where they impressed with beautiful harmonies and perfectly rounded pop songs. Now, fate has been kind to us, and they grace us with their presence again. This will be the band’s LAST gig with the very lovely/talented Siobhan Wilson, so we hope you can join us to give her a good send off!www.facebook.com/friendsinamerica“Friends In America are going to blow people away.” – Favourite Son“My favourite new Scottish band of 2011.” – Pop Cop“Beautiful post rock, atmospheric and heartfelt vocals. Oh and silly faces.” - Ally McCrae, BBC Radio 1YOUNG AVIATORS cannot be trusted with aircrafts, but give them an instrument and they’ll make magic happen. Hailing from Ireland but living in Glasgow, this is another band that absolutely blew MILK’s socks off (on Halloween - and dressed as priests, no less), and we can’t wait to welcome them back.www.facebook.com/youngaviatorsAlly McCrae (aff BBC Radio 1) and David Weaver of Detour will be providing the tuuunes till 3am. And it’s all for FREE like bicycles that haven’t been properly secured.

The LAID Burns Night was hella fun. Awesome sets from Trapped in Kansas and Poor Things in their first gigs of 2012 assured us that both are going far this year, and we can’t wait to see them again. And Scottish hip hop legend Loki silenced Bar Bloc with his poetry - which is something we thought we’d never say. For those who missed it, here is Loki’s unique take on the Toast to the Lassies, as filmed on the day of the event by Ben Cowie

LAID: a brand new live music and club night at Bloc with sexy line-ups, pumped-up beats and delicious treats. It’s from the folks what brought you MILK and it’s all for free. We are having a party to celebrate being born, with these very special guests:
MEURSAULT - Their name is hard to spell but their music is quite simply the most beautiful thing we have ever heard. We first caught onto them when Frightened Rabbit told us they were their favourite band. Then we began an intimate relationship with their music, and now you should too too. Listen:  www.myspace.com/meursaulta701 Watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2s8SlP0Zurs CRAYONS - These sprightly young things have produced some of the catchiest indie pop tunes about and they are going to be huge, mark our words. Crayons played MILK a few weeks back and since then mullions of folk have approached us and asked who they were, and where and when they could see them again. The answer is Crayons, at LAID, very soon. Listen: www.myspace.com/crayyyons/musicWatch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyfxhPP4mOk SEBASTIAN DANGERFIELD - Native to Edinburgh but making things exciting with an alternative, Americana rock sound inspired by Old Crow Medicine show. They have real family relations with We Were Promised Jetpacks - not that it matters but, y’know, can’t be a bad thing. Listen: www.myspace.com/dangerfieldtunes Watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CX-ip3eE5fgCome get some. It’s free like shoplifted goods.
